Hamdan Bin Mubarak chairs the first meeting of the United Arab Emirates University Council for Academic Year 2015/2016

His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and UAEU Chancellor, chaired the first meeting of the University Council for Academic Year 2015/2016 on Wednesday September 16th 2015, on the UAEU campus in Al Ain.
The University Council includes his Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Her Excellency Noura Mohammed Al Kaabi, Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority (twofour54); Her Excellency Aisha Abdullah Omran, Editor-in-Chief (Gulf Today); His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al-Hajeri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Holding, his Excellency Abdullah Nasser Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Board of Al Nasser Holdings; His Excellency Eissa Abdulfattah Kazim, Director of Dubai International Financial Center; His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Sheryani; His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor; His Excellency Dr. Butti Sultan Al-Muhairi, College of Law; Dr. Fatima Abdulbaqi Al Jasmi, College of Medicine and Health Sciences; Dr. Asma Abubaker Al Menhali, College of Science; Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Suwaidi, College of Education; Dr. Stanley Ikenberry, Honorary President of the University of Illinois; Dr. William Kirwan, Chancellor of the University of Maryland; Dr. Anne Ferren, Fellow of the American Association of University Professors and Dr. Andrea Sursock, European University Association Adviser.
The University Council discussed subjects that contribute to academic excellence, enhance cultural and social values and consolidate sustainable economic development. This is in line with international standards for academic and institutional accreditation in order to fulfill strategic plan and maintain quality.
The meeting also dealt with resolutions and the appointment of new deans and deputy deans for respective colleges. Additionally it dealt with the granting of degrees to second and summer semester graduates from Academic Year 2014-2015. A pilot report for the institutional accreditation visit by WSCUC was also presented and discussed, as were the university’s achievements, current and future projects.
