United Arab Emirates University researchers publish in international journals

71 research papers published in 2014

The United Arab Emirates University honored a group professors for their role in higher education and scientific research at both regional and global levels and for publishing research papers which help to promote the research reputation of the university. The ceremony was held on Wednesday April 27th, 2016 in Al Ain in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, Professor Ghaleb Al Hadrami, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, and a number of deans, faculty and students.

Dr. Al-Nuaimi stressed that UAEU is committed to developing research and innovation in areas of national and regional importance and seeks to provide a stimulating learning environment so that students can also be creative and innovative as the UAE strives to create a knowledge-based society. He praised the role of faculty in preparing the students to be leaders in the future.

He said, “The United Arab Emirates University is proud of its faculty and their achievements, especially when they contribute to the research status of the university at regional and global levels”. He explained that, “maintaining our position as a leading higher education institution in the UAE is due to the efforts made by all the members of the university”.

Professor Al Hadrami pointed out that, “it was not possible to achieve anything without the support of the senior management who can provide the moral and material support necessary for such research, especially research published in international journals”.

In total 71 research papers were published in prestigious journals: 2 research papers were published by key researchers and 7 research papers by co-researchers in the top 1% of scientific journals. 25 papers by key researchers were published in the top 5% of journals and a further 37 research papers by key researchers were published in the top 10%.

The university honored 53 professors last year for their leading role in higher education and scientific research, and for publishing their research papers. Last year there were more than 66 research papers published in international journals.
