College of Humanities and Social Sciences holds its annual orientation meeting for graduate programs

The Professional Development Unit of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at United Arab Emirates University organized the annual orientation meeting for the graduate programs of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Wednesday August 31^st, 2016. The meeting is held at the beginning of each semester in the main theatre of the Crescent building.  In attendance were the dean and various members of the department along with the students.

Professor Dr. Hassan Al Naboodah, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences said: "The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is keen on studying the labor market’s needs of graduate programs, in order to provide the community with graduates that meet the needs of their community in the different disciplines.  We aim to enhance efficiency and productivity, as well as accelerate development.  We strive to meet the requirements of the society in the various fields and raise the profile of the University in positions of leadership and excellence in higher education on the regional and global level."

An aim of this meeting is to introduce the students to the graduate programs offered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences which include: Arabic Language and Literature; English Literature; Geography and Urban Planning; Mass Communication; Political Science; Psychology, and Social Work. The College engages in the strategic partnership the University has established with various institutions to prepare its students for the labor market while keeping up with the latest innovations and variables throughout the various fields.

This meeting comes within a series of preparatory workshops for the practical training of students.  This training is an essential component all students must engage with in order to graduate.   By building a bridge between academic theory and practical application, the College produces students that are prepared for today’s labor market and can be innovators and leaders in their chosen professions.
