The United Arab Emirates University hosted an orientation for the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Higher Education Grants Program, sponsored by New York University: Abu Dhabi on Sunday 21/1/2016 in the Crescent Building Theatre on the UAEU campus. It was attended by university students.
The program is targeting 20 UAEU students (male and female) who display leadership qualities and academic curiosity. The program encourages intellectual development and competition. It will also help to strengthen partnerships with other educational institutions whether in the UAE or further afield.
Mr. Saif Ali Ahmad, an administrative coordinator with the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Higher Education Grant Program, said that, “the program is an opportunity for talented university students to participate in a study program that has lectures on leadership, offers the chance to build professional relationships and where the students can receive scholarships to complete postgraduate studies.” He added that, “the program accepts only the most outstanding students from the three public universities, UAEU, Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technology. It was designed in consultation with Abu Dhabi Education Council, other government universities and colleges in the UAE and NYU: Abu Dhabi.”
The orientation described the program and involved a panel discussion where students shared their experience and talked about the challenges they faced and how they benefitted from the program. Finally there was a question and answer session for students.
