The Department of Geography and Urban Planning at the United Arab Emirates University received a delegation from the Department of Geography at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, January 21^st, 2016. This is part of UAEU’s strategy to strengthen academic and research partnerships with other institutions and universities.

Professor Saif Al Qaydi, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and other faculty, received the delegation and welcomed them. He briefed them on UAEU’s various colleges and developments. He was looking forward to the visit in order to strengthen research and cooperation between the two universities.

Dr. Mohammed Al Dagheri, an associate professor in the Department of Geography at Qassim University, thanked UAEU for its warm reception and expressed his admiration for the academic achievements of UAEU. He also praised the urban planning and landscaping he had seen.

The Saudi Arabian delegation toured the campus and viewed on-going research in the Department of Geography and Urban Planning and how they were applying information systems. There was also a brainstorming session in order to strengthen research and academic exchange between the two universities. Finally, the delegation visited Al Ain Palace Museum and were introduced to the falaj system in Al Ain.
