The United Arab Emirates University organizes various events in the "Year of Reading"

More than 50 events to enhance the culture of reading,
On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, the University College of UAEU organized a number of competitions, as part of the “Year of Reading”. Faculty members and students attended, and events included a "Read the Picture - What Did It Say to You" competition and also a "Reading with Children" competition
Dr. Hassan Al Naboodah, Dean of University College, explained that the "Read the Picture” competition aims to develop creative thinking, saying: "We aim to introduce reading at UAEU in an innovative manner, in order to open multiple horizons and develop a spirit of innovation and creativity in our students".
Similarly, the "Reading with Children" competition, seeks to introduce the idea of reading to children in a fun way. Those children who more usually are attracted to electronic games will learn that reading can be a fun thing, and that it too can embrace the latest technology. Those students participating in the competition where recognized by the university for their efforts.
It is also worth mentioning that UAEU will hold more than 50 events this month, to promote the culture of reading in the university community and beyond. These events will include “Reading Walkway” and “Today's Reader is Tomorrow’s Leader” competitions, in addition to a “Reading Badge” initiative and other related events.
