Dwak, a startup in the Science & Innovation Park (SIP) at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) won the People's Choice Award at the global final of Pitch@Palace, which took place at St. James’s Palace in London on 6th December, 2017, in the presence of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and the founder of Pitch@Palace.

Pitch@Palace Global is an international platform that helps entrepreneurs find markets, companies and new investors, and open avenues for job opportunities. The first Pitch@PalaceUAE was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces in Abu Dhabi.

Mansoor Alkaabi, a member in Dwak, stressed that winning the People's Choice Award is the result of the exerted efforts by the team and the regular supervision of SIP’s experts on such competitions, which play a significant role in boosting the level of innovation. He pointed out that the support of the UAE leadership was and still is a great motivation to continue the process of excellence and innovation toward employing new technologies in the UAE knowledge-based economy.

Dwak App, developed by the team, is a medical app that offers prescription drug prompts by sending automatic reminders to users every time they need to take a tablet or a dose of medicine and when they need to refill their medicines, keeping them in line with the prescribed medication regime and preventing the potential health consequences of incorrect use. The app also responds to patients’ enquiries regarding the correct way of taking medicines. The app is available on Android and iOS and can be installed from Google play store and App store.

The final tournament of Pitch@PalaceUAE was held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, which resulted in the winning of Dwak Medical App Project and Braille Eye Project for visually-impaired people. The two projects were advanced to represent the UAE and be showcased at St. James’s Palace in London.
