The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has announced that they will jointly offer the Professional Diploma in Philanthropy Leadership, starting from Spring 2017-2018.

The launch of this new program aims to activate the UAEU’s partnerships with local and international relevant ministries and institutions. It is also an initiative for 2017 Year of Giving, announced by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan, and vigorously followed-up on by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Ruler of Dubai.

H.E. Sultan Mohammed Alshamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, expressed his delight over the achievements accomplished in the Year of Giving, which one of the most important is the launch of Professional Diploma in Philanthropy Leadership at UAEU. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation plays a vital role in this field, with H.E. Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, supervising the ‘Developmental Role of Humanitarian Organisations’ track.

Launching such a diploma is a testament to the UAEU’s leading role in supporting the development process and enhancing UAE’s role in humanitarian assistance. The new program is set to develop the philanthropic skills of the program’s students in line with the needs of the partner countries and the UAE’s foreign aid strategies. The program is anticipated to achieve all its objectives and attract a large number of philanthropy specialists.  

H.E. Professor Mohammed Albaili, UAEU Vice Chancellor, stressed the significance of running the program, which aims to acquire its participants with theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in philanthropy. He stated that we are keen on the success of this program in order to prepare professional leaders in philanthropy and ready to meet the needs required by program’s candidates, according to the highest international standards, through developing internships, workshops, lectures and panel discussions on current local and international issues.

The program will commence in Spring 2017-2018 and the participating candidates will receive an accredited professional certificate from the Continuing Education Center of UAEU, provided that all program requirements are met with a minimum attendance of 75%.
