The 25th Conference on Contemporary Trends in the Justice System will be organized by the College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) from the 13th of November. It will be held at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium and is a two-day conference for both national and international delegates. It is one of several conferences arranged by the College of Law in order to discuss legal issues in the UAE.

The conference aims to create partnerships with local institutions and raise awareness of the importance of alternative means to resolve disputes. The conference will also cover the challenges faced by adjudicators and promote the concepts of justice, tolerance and happiness in UAE society.

Professor Mohammed Hassan, Dean of the College of Law, explained that, “emerging issues related to the justice system necessitate research and analysis in order to create a justice system based on the UAE’s values and where prisoners’ rights are respected and custodial sentences avoided where possible.”

Professor Hassan pointed out that this conference is part of the UAE leadership’s vision to further justice, tolerance and happiness for everyone by adopting a system that does not discriminate between different people. The conference will discuss topics including innovation, tolerance and happiness. It will also consider how to deliver a justice system that is suitable for everyone regardless of social class and gender. A judicial system ought to also be child-friendly.

Dr. Ahmed Al Dulaie, head of the Conference Organizing Committee highlighted the quality of the carefully selected papers that have been submitted. The conference will be in six sessions: five will be dedicated to presentations while the sixth will be a panel discussion on the experiences of other countries in terms of their respective justice systems. He added that the main theme of the conference is analysis and assessment of more progressive countries.
