UAEU opens 3rd Industry Walk

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) launched on Monday 23rd April 2018 the 3rd Industry Walk under the theme ‘Innovation in Internship and Professional Development’, aiming to introduce students to internship and job opportunities that suit their engineering specializations.

Professor Sabah Alkass, Dean of the College of Engineering, stressed the significance of the event, as it strengthens the UAEU’s partnerships with the industry. It is an opportunity for students to get detailed information about the work nature of the companies and the jobs available after graduation and to learn how their programs suit the requirements of the job market.

Professor Alkass pointed out that at this year’s Industry Walk, a special walkway was set for students to explore different companies’ departments and meet with representatives to learn about the skills, capabilities and specializations required by the UAE’s industry.

On his side, Engineer Ahmad Suhail Al Muhairi, Senior Vice President for Strategy & Business Development at SENAAT, explained, “We are proud to be a platinum sponsor of this recruitment fair, organized by UAEU. Our collaboration with the university is a testament to our commitment to support all the initiatives that aim to develop next generations.”

Mr. Al Muhairi added that this initiative adds to the list of projects in which SENAAT takes part, being one of the UAE’s prominent contributor in driving the growth of the country’s industrial sector, in line with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision of 2030 to achieve economic diversification. Today’s recruitment fair was an opportunity for SENAAT’s delegates to meet with the new generation and explore their capabilities, skills and aspirations. “We look forward further youth contributions to develop UAE’s economy.”

Dr. Naeema Al Darmaki, Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering for Professional Development and the Head of the event’s organizing committee, stated that this Industry Walk was a success and it is different from the two previous ones in that it featured more, various companies and that the representatives introduced students to the companies’ different fields of work that suit the academic programs offered by the UAEU College of Engineering. She commended the large turnout of students and companies and the distinguished workshops held on the sidelines of the event.

Dr. Al Darmaki expressed the gratitude of the UAEU and the College of Engineering to the participating companies including Tawazun and Schlumberger, for their contribution in making this event a great success.
