H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Chancellor, chaired the third meeting of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) Council for the 2017/2018 academic year on Monday 13 February 2018 in Dubai.
The council consists of H.E. Essa Abdulfattah Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre; H.E. Younis Haji Al Khouri, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Finance; H.E. Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention; H.E. Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency; H.E. Dr. Abdulla Mohammed Al Karam, Director General of Dubai Government’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA); H.E. Homaid Abdulla Al Shimmari, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer and Chief Human Capital & Corporate Officer at Mubadala Investment Company; H.E. Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Shariani; H.E. Prof. Mohammed Albaili, UAEU Vice Chancellor; Dr. Asma Abu Bakr Al Menhali, College of Science UAEU; Dr. Mohamed Sulaiman Al Hoqani, College of Medicine and Health Science UAEU; Dr. Shamma Juma Al Falasi, College of Humanities and Social Sciences UAEU; Dr. Mohammed Meqdad Al Suwaidi, College of Business and Economics UAEU.
The meeting started with a workshop on the universities and colleges’ administration council. It then discussed appointing a new Dean for the College of Business and Economics, offering a MA Program in Innovative Education in the College of Education and the proposition of collaborating with University of Colorado Boulder in the field of Space Science.
The council also discussed the topics listed in the agenda, set to contribute to enhancing the UAEU’s strategic orientation, and its role in producing and disseminating knowledge, developing skills and enhancing scientific research. These agenda topics are aligned with the leadership’s directives to employ research and innovation capabilities in fields of great national importance. The agenda topics are set in line with the university’s vision to achieve excellence and leadership, meet the job market needs, develop talented students and encourage youth to establish and enhance the UAE knowledge-based economy.
The council addressed the future role of the university, as a research and knowledge beacon, featuring elite scientists and researchers from all over the world, contributing to the university’s journey toward excellence and lead the future of higher education in UAE in accordance with the highest international standards.
