The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Sandooq Al Watan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance co-operation and build a strategic partnership, aimed at preparing qualified national cadre specialized in different science and technology fields and capable of achieving UAE’s national priorities.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Professor Mohammed Albaili, UAEU Vice Chancellor, and H.E. Mohammed Taj Aldeen AlQadi, Director of Sandooq Al Watan, at the university campus in Al Ain. It was then followed by a tour of the UAEU’s Science and Innovation Park and Research Centers.
“Establishing a partnership with prestigious educational institutions is an essential strategy of Sandooq Al Watan, through which it seeks to consolidate national priorities and enhance sustainable development,” explained H.E. Mohammed AlQadi.
“We are delighted to cooperate with UAEU, one of the most prestigious universities in the UAE, offering excellent research-based programs. This cooperation will result in developing invaluable innovations and research projects, and thus advancing the UAE’s development process.”
“Through this collaboration, we will support the UAEU’s Science and Innovation Park and its research projects to make applied research a pivotal element in the valuable development projects, and contribute to achieving our leadership’s vision in building a knowledge-based economy.”
Professor Albaili stressed the significance of this MOU, as it helps in implementing the UAEU’s vision of establishing partnerships with a large number of local and regional institutions and organizations, which play an important role in providing high-standard services and providing youth with many opportunities to acquire expertise and employ them in serving the UAE society.
H.E. Albaili added, “This MOU will use the scientific expertise of UAEU “The University of the Future” which will have a positive impact that will contribute to the success of the development projects, leadership and innovations and support from Sandooq Al Watan will result in a scientific return that will benefit the UAE society due to the scientific capabilities available in the university”.
As part of this MOU, Sandooq Al Watan will provide research grants to UAEU student researchers through the online platform www.researcher.ae. It will also offer internship and career counseling programs for Emirati students as well as the Emirati Programmer program, which will be offered in Al Ain along with upcoming educational programs that are in the pipeline. Through this collaboration, UAEU as Sandooq Al Watan’s strategic partner, will provide consulting and technical services for their initiatives. Together, they will work to encourage Emirati students and researchers to conduct applied research in UAE’s priority sectors through providing them with funding opportunities, events and other enterprises.
The two parties will also cooperate in the field of innovation through coordinating with the UAEU Innovation Support Team to embrace and nurture the innovative ideas of student researchers, and provide a suitable environment, enabling them to transform their ideas into reality.
