UAEU, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation launch ‘Professional Diploma in Philanthropy Leadership’

Professor Mohammed Albaili, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), launched on Sunday 4th March the new academic program ‘Professional Diploma in Philanthropy Leadership’. The event took place in the Dubai International Academic City with a number of UAE government institutions and charitable associations in attendance. The new program, offered by UAEU in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, aims to enhance the developmental role of the humanitarian institutions in line with the scientific standards.

“The culture of giving has been endorsed by the UAE government who sought to disseminate the value of giving at the regional and international levels, and this has reflected on the growing interest of UAE government, charitable and humanitarian entities, to contribute to the success of this program’, explained Professor Albaili. “UAEU has launched the program, with the aim to promote humanitarian and voluntary work, and to implement the university’s mission to positively contribute in the local and international society.” The new program consists of a common unit (80 training hours, costing 12000 DHs), containing seven workshops; introduction to and the ethics of humanitarian work, emotional intelligence, the effect of social relations on humanitarian work, basics of finance and accounting, laws of human rights and international organizations, introduction to sustainable development, basics of humanitarian assistance, and psychological and social support. After accomplishing the common unit, members of the program can take one of the three levels; level one (leaders’ preparation 67 training hours, costing 10000 DHs), level two (professionals’ preparation, 60 training hours, costing 9000 DHs) and level three (administrators, 48 training hours, costing 7000 DHs).

The program is offered for employees of various entities including, Abu Dhabi Police, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, International Humanitarian City, Dubai Charity Association, Dubai Cares and Dar Al Ber Society.
