UAEU foresights the future of UAE Food and Agriculture

The College of Food and Agriculture at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized during March 12-14, 2018 the Food and Agriculture Week under the theme “Following the Footsteps of Zayed….. Into the Future” to mark the Year of Zayed.
The college’s departments participated in a number of activities aiming to envision the future of food and agriculture in UAE. The event also featured showcasing new technologies as well as future ideas in the fields of food, nutrition, health, horticulture, fisheries sciences, animal production and veterinary. During the event, the Agribusiness Department highlighted the significance of organic agriculture, which is increasingly developing in the UAE and constitutes an essential element in future agriculture and sustainable productivity.
A number of government and private institutions were involved in the Food and Agriculture Week, with aim of enhancing cooperation with the university and to help students get hands-on experience in this field. The participating institutions included Abu Dhabi Farmers’ Services Center, International Fund for Haboura Conservation, Al Ain Farms for Livestock Production, Moloko Company, Barari Nursery, Al Ain Pharmacy, National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing, Gulf Rider Veterinary Medicines and Equipment Trading, Thumbay Pharmacy, White Agro, Quanta Ice Cream and Imperial College London Diabetes Center.
