UAEU receives research grants from the Department of Education and Knowledge and Al- Jalila Foundation

Sixteen research projects at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) have received complete fundingfrom the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Al-Jalila Foundation. ADEK have contributed AED 2,399,660 to conduct 11 research projects, while Al Jalila Foundation granted an amount of AED1,430,750 to carry out 5 research projects.

Professor Mohamed Albaili, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, stressed the significance of the research funding, which contributes to UAEU’s vision and strategy and highlights the UAEU’s continuous commitment to support joint efforts and active collaboration with authorities and institutions, in addition to reflecting the mutual trust between the university and the respective institutions.

Professor Albaili added that UAEU, the University of the Future, has a proven track record as a leading institution in the field of scientific research. This is evident from the number of research conducted that has contributed towards the development of the UAE.

UAEU has contributed research in innovation, training competences and provided consultations in line with the UAE’s national agenda and the vision of 2021.

The funded research addresses various fields including education, health, social sciences, sustainability and development and security. Some of the research’s topics include ‘Experimental Investigation on Water-Pipe Smoke (Shisha) - Induced Cardiovascular Pathophysiologic Effects’, ‘An Examination of Cycle 1 Teachers Self-Efficacy Beliefs and Pedagogical Content Knowledge’, and ‘The Role of Social Work in Abu Dhabi Schools’.

Al Jalila Foundation is a global philanthropic organization that promotes medical education and research. It was founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai in April 2013.
