UAEU organizes “Health & Fitness” Carnival

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized during 11-14 November 2018 the ‘The Health and Fitness Carnival", at the Great Hall of the Crescent building, with the participation of a number of UAE health and sport centers.
The event was attended by H.E. Dr. Ghaleb Ali Al-Breiki, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, students from higher education institutions and high schools, and UAEU faculty, staff and students.
The four-day carnival organized by the UAEU Campus Life Section, aims to highlight the most important health and physical achievements of the UAE founding father, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, raise health awareness, encourage students to acquire the necessary skills to improve their lifestyles and provide high-quality health services.
The students of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences presented an innovative presentation entitled "Infographic" and an awareness campaign on diabetes prevention and ways of coping with it. The Health and Physical Education Department of the College of Education carried out a series of martial arts shows of "Taekwondo", fitness test, competitions and health information. Whilst the students of the College of Food and Agriculture gave presentations on health awareness and presented posters about the importance of health and fitness in students’ university life in an innovative, intersting atmosphere.
The Health and Fitness Carnival also featured a number of activities, including a blood donation campaign by Tawam Hospital, a first aid workshop presented by specialists from Al Ain Hospital, and a presentation on various specialties related to occupational health, fitness, behavioral sciences, rheumatism and women's health. Abu Dhabi Health Services presented a number of sports and entertaining activities to educate students about the importance of physical fitness and the exercise in an innovative way that motivates students to follow healthy behaviors.
A number of sponsors and strategic partners participated in the carnival including: the Department of Health, Al Ain Hospital, Community Nutrition Department at Tawam Hospital, Golden Eagle, MediClinic Hospital, Al Waha Hospital, Burjeel Royal Hospital, Fatima College for Health Sciences, the Imperial College London Diabetes Center, Higher Colleges of Technology, Al Ain University for Science and Technology, University of Sharjah and a number of dental and fitness centers in Al Ain.
