UAEU signs cooperation agreement with Akita University

United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) signed on Tuesday 6th Nov. 2018, a cooperation agreement with Akita University, Japan, with the aim of establishing strategic partnership between the two parties and enhancing academic cooperation, including exchanging students and faculty and conducting joint research, mainly in the fields of science.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Prof. Mohamed Albaili, UAEU Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Fumio YAMAMOTO, President of Akita University, in the UAEU Crescent Building.
H.E. Prof. Albaili stressed the significance of this agreement, being one of the important partnerships established with international academic institutions to help UAEU, the University of the Future, to lead higher education in UAE and the region in the fields of research and community service.
“The agreements concluded by UAEU with international institutions reflect the university’s keenness to enhance collaboration with strategic partners in the UAE and further afield, who play a vital role in providing researchers with opportunities to exchange expertise and employ them in helping their society”, added Prof. Albaili. “These agreements also result in developing joint initiatives that benefit both students and faculty through enhancing their research abilities.”
The five-year agreement between UAEU and Akita University includes exchanging students, faculty, researchers, administrative staff, and academic information and materials between the two universities. The two parties also agreed on conducting joint research, holding joint lectures and symposia, and establishing research laboratories, as well as promoting other academic cooperation as mutually agreed.
The delegation from Akita University was led by Prof. Fumio YAMAMOTO and included Prof. Tokiyuki SATO, Dean, Graduate School of International Resource Sciences, Prof. Hikari FUJII, Professor, Graduate School of International Resource Sciences, and Prof. Kenichi ONO, Director, International Affairs Division.
Established 130 years ago, Akita University in Japan is a national, government, research-based university, and the only university in Japan that offers academic programs in all disciplines.
