UAEU holds its 2018/2019 Annual Convocation

During his speech at the university’s convocation of AY 2018/2019 addressing UAEU community, H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), stressed the importance of focusing on quality research to produce new knowledge and find solutions to different problems and challenges.

Expressing his great confidence in the university’s faculty members, researchers and staff, Dr. Al Noaimi stated that the university, through offering new, distinguished academic programs and assigning great attention to quality research and graduate studies, effectively addresses the needs of the country’s desired development.

“The university has achieved a good standing among prestigious universities worldwide and we are looking forward to accomplishing new achievements and contributions in order to achieve the UAE’s nation agenda,” added Dr. Al Noaimi.

He pointed out that UAE’s wise leadership, through delivering a distinguished project led by UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and  H.H.Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to work on the course of Zayed in human development. They all work side by side on the UAE project that is based on affection, tolerance and authentic values, instilled by the late UAE’s founder to achieve a progressive model, making UAE an oasis of security and advancement that all Arabs and Muslims can be proud of.

Speaking about the significance of multiculturalism, H.E. Dr. Al Noaimai explained, “the UAE leadership’s vision to make UAE a forum for cultures and nations is a source of strength to human civilization, UAEU has contributed to this cultural diversity through embracing students and faculty members of various nationalities.

On his part, H.E. Prof. Mohamed Albaili, UAEU Vice Chancellor, affirmed that UAEU strives to be among the Asia’s top 20 universities and the world’s top 200 universities by 2030.

During the convocation, Prof. Albaili presented the university's achievements over the academic year 2017/2018. These include the adoption of the UAEU’s new organizational structure and the main library’s development with new references in line with the highest international standards to meet faculty and students’ research needs.

The university also succeeded to use the latest technology to keep pace with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and activate strategic partnerships with international research and education entities.

Prof. Albaili said that the university attaches special importance to improving the quality of research outputs and increasing internal and external research funding to achieve the UAE’s vision in the fields of water, renewable energy, space, and information and communication technology.
