Conference chairman: We are working on creating a prominent national research platform

The Conference of Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases which was held at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences - UAEU. The participants discussed the challenges of decreasing the spread of these contemporary diseases and the latest scientific research data and results on learning the latest methods of treating Type 2 Diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Harald Sourij, Medical University of Graz presented the relationship between metabolism and complications of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and the relationship of epidemics with down glucose and heart failure. Dr. Ali El Houni (Consultant Endocrinologist – Tawam Hospital- Johns Hopkins Medicine, Al Ain), has presented a paper on the complications of type 2 diabetes, the ways of preventing and curing the disease.

Prof. Charles B. Cairns, Dean, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, said: "This conference comes from the faith of the UAEU, “the University of Future” to contribute to improving the health care and well-being of the UAE community through renewed medical education and discussion of research developments and the best practices in the field of medical services. He  of pointed out that the interest of the UAE government in health care for its citizens and residents and to provide the best care for them makes university and hospital researchers interested in carrying out scientific research, Solutions to diseases and provide their best in health education and keep up with the future requirements of the medicine in the UAE.

Dr. Abderrahim Oulhaj, an Associate Professor in Biostatistics at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAEU and the Chairman of the Conference, said that the conference aims to raise awareness about type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The conference will provide a unique opportunity for exchanging knowledge among experts and participants about some important issues related to Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, to serve as a platform for the creation of a leading national research group on type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease and to keep health care providers updated on the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment which serve as a platform for the creation of a leading national research group in the field of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
