Announcing the launch of the Master of Educational Innovations at UAEU in cooperation with Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic performance

The United Arab Emirates University and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic performance have announced the acceptance of the first cohort of the Master of Educational Innovations, which is being launched for this academic year. H.E.Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, H.E. Saeed Ahmed Ghobash- UAEU Chancellor, H.E. Prof. Mohammed Albaili, UAEU Vice Chancellor, and H.E. Dr. Jamal Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic performance.

H.E.Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance - said that “the launching of the Master of Educational Innovations program contributes to the development of the educational structure in the country as innovation has become a criterion in improving the educational process and improving the value of education Outcomes. Emirati schools are primarily focused on fostering innovation concepts in line with the UAE's vision, national agenda requirements and leadership guidance to implant innovation among generations as a significant cultural component and a platform from which to move towards entrepreneurship and future innovation.”

H.E. Al Hammadi added: "The educational process has become based on innovation as an original concept in building future pioneers’ generation and provide the educational field with teachers and leaders so that innovation and renewal is their goal and attention to refine the skills of learners through teamwork and cooperative learning by linking theory with application and field practices and give learners frameworks and patterns., focusing on the skills of research and using them to resolve issues and problems that may face them in the future in new and creative ways.”

H.E. Al Hammadi pointed out that the aim of launching the Master of Educational Innovations at the UAEU – UAE’s flagship university - is to interact with worldwide experiences in the field of education. It also comes out of our keenness to keep abreast of educational developments in the world and continue to endorse educational awareness in the UAE. He said: "We are assured that this pioneering program will `accomplish continuous communication between the Foundation and the winners of its award to contribute to their continuity in excellence, as well as qualify the winners of educators to be able to lead the excellence of educational performance, in addition to hone their skills in various educational sectors according to international standards, which achieves Our ultimate goal is to prepare highly qualified and professional educational leaders to contribute to the process of making excellence across the school and educational institution in which they work.

For his part, H.E. Dr. Jamal Al Muhairi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees - Secretary General of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance - stressed that “this program was designed to serve all members in the educational field such as staff, teachers and administrators and school leadership to be a significant source in preparing a generation of Distinguished educators and keep pace with the aspirations of future education in the UAE and the first of its kind at the level of universities in the region. He pointed out that the master's program in innovative education comes as a result of cooperation between the UAEU & Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance.”

Besides, he pointed out that the launching of the Master of Educational Innovations program is in line with the overall goals of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation's mission of Distinguished Academic performance and purposes set by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, which is to embrace and sponsor the Distinguished people who contribute to the excellence of educational performance.

Moreover, The Secretary-General added that the scholarship program is designed to serve the needs of the educational field and meet the aspirations of future education. This program aims to sponsor the winners of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Award for Distinguished Academic performance in the category of Distinguished Teacher, Distinguished School / School Management and Distinguished Educator who wish to raise their competence as educational personnel and qualify them academically to reach the highest levels of educational excellence. He also thanked the UAEU leadership for their collaboration in the success of this partnership, which resulted in the launching of this innovative program.

In addition to that, He announced that the Foundation will provide 10 seats annually for 5 years for candidates to attain a Master of Educational Innovations in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates University through the College of Education, where this program is offered for the first time in Arab World and in the Emirate of Dubai.

For his part, H.E. Prof. Mohamed Al-Baili, UAEU Vice Chancellor, stressed “the importance of offering such programs in graduate studies to serve higher education in the UAE, keeping up with the educational structure of the strategy of achieving sustainability in professional development and reaching educational outcomes that meet the aspirations of the community and promote opportunities of creativity and innovation. The future of the teachers, and the application of innovative knowledge and advanced educational skills in their academic field and enrich the innovative research to be in line with the rapid developments and new requirements. He further added: "Building human cadres requires harmony with future tracks of the UAE on the government sector and the private sector level according to an advanced educational system that endorses opportunities for creativity, innovation and targeted labor market requirements, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership in the country and targeted to the requirements of the National Agenda 2021 UAE Centennial 2071."

H.E. the UAEU Vice Chancellor added: "We at the UAEU – the University of the Future, we pay exceptional consideration for graduate studies as well as scientific research and focusing through the vision and strategy of the National University in order to provide the essential support for educational institutions in the UAE, within the university's qualitative and distinguished production of scientific research, knowledge development, and up-to-date methods of teaching, based on a sophisticated educational system that fosters the building tolerance, opportunities for excellence, creativity and innovation for future generations.”

For his part, Prof. Ahmed Murad, Acting Dean of the College of Education, pointed out that the subjects offered in the Master of Educational Innovations Program are new-fangled that may not have been offered before in the region's universities. Also, students will study courses on the applications of artificial intelligence in education. The program has undergone reviews by international experts.

Arabic is the core language of this program, which is part of the efforts of the UAEU and Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic performance in supporting and promoting the Arabic language. The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation provides scholarships to candidates for the Master of Educational Innovations in collaboration with the UAEU. The candidates will be the winners of the Hamdan Award in the category of Distinguished Teacher, School / School leadership and Distinguished Educational category who wish to raise their competence as employees in the educational field. The program will take two-years, with 30 credit hours, will be taught in Dubai over the weekend. This program is designed to serve the educational field of teachers and administrators in the field of teaching and school leadership as a significant source in preparing a distinguished generation and keep pace with the aspirations of future education in the UAE and the first of its kind at the level of universities in the region.

Furthermore, the program consists of 10 courses with 3 credit hours per course and a total of 30 credit hours. Students can complete the program requirements in four semesters, one of which is summer. The duration of the program will be one and a half years. Master’s courses in Educational Innovations will be taught at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Giftedness & Creativity, a center with many up-to-date facilities, tools and equipped classrooms.
