198 students from UAEU have participated in volunteering work

They win the second place in the Aoun Award for Community Services by the "Emirates Red Crescent"

More than 198 students from the United Arab Emirates University have participated in the " Aoun Award for Community Services " by the Emirates Red Crescent. In this competition, the UAEU team won the second place at the UAE level for the "Giving without Borders" initiative for the low-income families’ category.

For her part, Moza Al Ketbi - Chair of the Campus Life Section - said that the UAEU team has organized a number of activities during this competition; the foremost was ““Don't give me the fish but teach me to fish!” It aims to help needy families start their small and private projects, develop their ideas, and improve their skills. In addition to the activities for teaching mothers the alphabet and some professions, the Winter Fund, through which the team secured the families 'needs of food and other needs of blankets and heating equipment, in addition to the painting houses that targeted families' homes that need to be repainted. The University students have highly and effectively engaged with these activities.

As well as, the students’ team have participated in the Emirates Red Crescent Authority awareness of the precautionary procedures for Coronavirus - COVID 19, by receiving shoppers in shopping centers and providing them with assistance by providing them with gloves and face masks and educating them to leave safe distances and safe shopping systems.

For his part, the student - Laith Essam - College of Business and Economics - Team Leader - said that “our participation in this competition planted in us the spirit of collaboration and volunteering work. As well as it gave us opportunities to participate in the country’s renaissance and work in a team spirit to spread humanitarian work and provide every aid to every needy”.

Moreover, the student -Aisha Al-Garwan - College of Engineering - the Deputy Team Leader - expressed her happiness with the success of this humanitarian campaign and said, "Today's winning of the Aoun Award for Community Service is only a first step towards volunteering and charitable work." People happiness and gratitude makes us happier and pushes us to do more and give more. "
