70 million dirhams allocated by UAEU for Research in 2019

Ahmad Murad: Supporting and funding scientific research is one of the priorities of the UAEU's strategy

1094 research papers published in designated journals and international conferences.

The United Arab Emirates University funded research projects with a total value of 70 million dirhams during 2019, and the period of carrying out them ranges between two and four years with the participation of faculty members ,masters and doctoral students.

For his part, Prof. Ahmed Murad - Acting Associate Provost for Research- stressed that supporting research projects is one and foremost of the university's strategy in order to be a comprehensive university focused on organizing qualitative scientific research with its partners in the industrial sector in providing research solutions to the facing challenges in the country and the region. In addition, it comes within the framework of an integrated plan of scientific research at the university to serve the strategic plans and requirements of the UAE national agenda and accomplish unique research outcomes.

Besides, The Acting Associate Provost for Research has indicated The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is the first government university in the UAE in comparison to other universities for the year 2020 according to the International Classification (THE). The university has continued its progress in scientific research, as the research outputs included 1094 scientific articles published in designated journals and international conferences during the year 2019, according to the global research database (SCOPUS).

During the year 2019, the university funded 210 research projects distributed among 76 projects within the university's research centers plan and 58 projects within the research plan for basic sciences, humanities and social sciences. In addition, 4 major multidisciplinary projects and 11 Post-Doc research projects as well as 61 research projects have been funded for new faculty members who joined the university during 2019.

Within the framework of the UAEU’s aspiring plan to develop the outputs of scientific research, the university has established 9 research centers specializing in areas of strategic university that correspond to the strategic priorities of the country. These research centers comprise; the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Center for Health Sciences, The National Space Science and Technology Center, the National Center for Water.as well as the Khalifa Center For Genetic Engineering And Biotechnology, the UAEU Road Research Center, The Emirates Centre for Energy and Environment Research , and The UAEU Center for Public Policy and Leadership in addition to the Big Data Analytics Center s and the Emirates Center for Happiness Research.
