In the global quest for transition to sustainable energy sources, and under the slogan “Renewable Energy for Climate Action,” the UAE University and Monash University, Australia held a joint symposium on renewable energy and just transition to energy and industry to highlight the importance of joint cooperation to develop innovative and sustainable solutions. Both universities academic research will support the future of renewable energy and industry to face the most pressing global challenges to combat climate change. Prof. Ahmed Murad - Associate Provost for Research - the UAE University, Prof. Jacek Jasieniak - Monash University, Prof. Ali Al Marzouqi - Dean of the Graduate Studies, researchers, policy makers, faculty members, students, and individuals from the public and private sectors attended the event. It enhances the exchange of knowledge, experiences and ideas within the activities accompanying the “UN Conference on Climate Change (COP28)” in the United Arab Emirates, at the Greening Education Hub, in the Green Zone, Expo Dubai.
The joint symposium aims to review the most remarkable research and innovations in the renewable energy, practical applications, case studies, and the potential impact of the two universities’ research on climate action, in addition to the two institutions’ strategies for mitigating climate change around the world.
Prof. Ahmed Murad - Associate Provost for Research, explained, “The UAE University has placed energy as a strategic research priority within the university’s plan for the academic year 2023-2026 in order to provide the main capabilities that help in achieving qualitative research leaps that contribute to leadership and excellence in the renewable and clean energy.” It also contribute to overcoming many research challenges related to the clean energy sources, including solar and hydrogen energy, in addition to the relationship between energy, water, and food.
This joint workshop also represents evidence of the existence of academic research collaboration that achieves high-quality outcomes that are reflected in knowledge and science. The energy diversification, especially clean energy, is an important means of achieving sustainability and achieving climate neutrality.
Prof. Ahmed Murad, Associate Provost for Research added, “The UAE University and Monash University have had long-standing relations since 2004. Both institutions signed memorandums of understanding to facilitate research cooperation, exchange programs and joint projects.
