UAEU Meets with Media Directors to Discuss the Launch of 'Tawasul' Initiative

On Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, the United Arab Emirates University held a meeting with directors of media institutions across the country to explore opportunities for fruitful cooperation and future partnerships. During the meeting, the launch of the Tawasul initiative was discussed, aimed at advancing academic and social media platforms. The initiative seeks to create a sustainable platform that integrates advanced scientific research with media expertise, fostering knowledge sharing and supporting the nation's vision of building a knowledge- and innovation-based society.

Among the attendees were H.E. Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Acting Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University; H.E. Mohammed Al Hammadi, Director General of Emirates News Agency (WAM); H.E. Hamad Al Kaabi, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ittihad newspaper; H.E. Abdulraheem Al Nuaimi, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Abu Dhabi Media Network; and other university leaders.

H.E.Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi emphasized that this meeting comes as part of strengthening the strategic partnership between the university and leading media institutions in the country. It aims to launch initiatives that will enhance the skills of students and graduates in the media field and leverage the ambitious visions of these institutions to contribute to producing a number of quality research in vital areas. This research seeks innovative solutions to various challenges and provides media institutions with academic and innovative resources, while also enhancing media awareness through organizing conferences on the importance of media and its role in building society.

Media institution directors praised the importance of this meeting in strengthening cooperation between academic and media institutions. They emphasized the vital role that media plays in shaping public awareness and achieving sustainable development. They noted that this meeting represents an important step in enhancing the exchange of knowledge and experiences, contributing to the preparation of a generation of media professionals and researchers capable of keeping up with the rapid developments in this field. They also stressed the importance of activating this cooperation in the long term to ensure that media institutions in the country play an active role in transferring and developing academic knowledge in various fields, in line with the ambitious visions of the United Arab Emirates.
