UAEU Agricultural Experts Council Hosted a Panel Discussion on Sustainable Agriculture

The UAEU Agricultural Experts Council hosted a panel discussion on “Sustainable Agriculture between the Authenticity of Inherited Expertise and Modern Innovation” on Wednesday evening, March 19, 2024, in commemoration of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan—may Allah have mercy on him. The session addressed the council's role in transferring agricultural expertise from senior farmers to new generations, contributing to sustainable agriculture and livestock development, and preserving the national agricultural legacy, particularly palm tree cultivation.

Dr. Mohammed Alyafei, Acting Dean of the College of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine, stated that the session reflected the UAEU Agricultural Experts Council's goals of connecting traditional expertise with modern knowledge to enhance national produce and ensure agricultural sustainability and adaptation to environmental changes, supporting national food security.

Senior farmers participated in the session, highlighting the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision for advancing the agricultural sector, his contribution to livestock production, and the impact of his agricultural policies on society. Participants emphasized the importance of following his example to achieve sustainable agricultural development.

At the conclusion of the session, experts offered advice to students on improving their practical and scientific skills, leveraging the support provided for innovators in the agricultural sector, and contributing to food security and societal needs. They also encouraged students to develop their capabilities and benefit from the UAE leadership's support for creative and innovative individuals, particularly in agriculture, which is crucial for meeting societal demands and enhancing food security.
