UAEU Celebrates 5th Edition of Colleges Trophy 2025 with Thrilling Competitions and Champion Awards

The United Arab Emirates University concluded the events of the “Colleges Trophy Championship 2025 – 5th Edition” which was held from March 3-19, 2025, with the wide participation of students, faculty members, alumni, and staff at the Sports Center at the University campus and in the presence of H.E. Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Acting Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University. The event was held in a thrilling sports atmosphere which reflected the spirit of fair competition, positive engagement between various colleges and the active participation of university community.

Mr. Ibrahim Mukhtar, Senior Supervisor at the Sports Activities Unit stated “The championship aims to achieve a number of sports and social goals such as creating a sense of family among university students and to encourage students to exercise and to discover and refine talents, to promote the concept of collective work and belonging to the college, providing a fair competitive environment, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.”

The final day of the championship witnessed intense competitions across various sports, where colleges vied for top positions. The winning teams were honored after the matches concluded, and the overall championship trophies for 2025 were awarded to the winning college in both the men's and women's categories.

The men's team from the College of Information Technology secured first place in the overall general excellence trophy. They also won the colleges' trophy in both individual and team sports, with their sports teams achieving first place in football, basketball, and tug-of-war. The men's team from the College of Engineering won first place in water polo and table tennis, while the men's team from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences secured first place in badminton and chess. The men's team from the College of Science won first place in volleyball.

In the women's category, the College of Science achieved first place in the overall general excellence trophy for 2025, winning the colleges' trophy in both individual and team sports. Their teams secured first place in volleyball, basketball, and chess. The women's team from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine won first place in table tennis and badminton, while the women's team from the College of Engineering won first place in football, and the College of Education won first place in tug-of-war.

The ceremony concluded in a celebratory atmosphere, with the Acting Vice Chancellor honoring the winning teams. The event underscored the importance of sports in fostering values of challenge, perseverance, and cooperation among the university community, reflecting the United Arab Emirates University's commitment to promoting sports and cultural activities among its students within the university community.
