UAE Codes Day

The University Programming Contest (UPC) is a semi-annual academic competition organized by the College of Information Technology (CIT) to enhance students’ competencies in problem-solving, algorithmic reasoning, and collaborative programming. Participants are challenged to design and implement efficient software solutions for a set of computational problems within a defined time limit, applying principles of programming, algorithms, and data structures.

The contest was organized by Prof. Mohammad Masud and Dr. Rawhi Alrae, in alignment with the “UAE Codes Day” initiative launched by the UAE Government to celebrate and promote coding, innovation, and digital skills across the nation.

In support of this national initiative, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) held its University Programming Contest on Wednesday, 29th October, introducing a remarkable advancement — the AI Agent Support Window. This initiative, proposed by the College of Information Technology, allows participants to utilize an AI agent within a designated time window during the competition. It reflects the university’s commitment to promoting responsible AI use in education and enhancing students’ computational thinking skills.
