The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) held its annual convocation to mark the start of the 2025–2026 academic year, in the presence of H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to HH the President of the UAE, Chancellor of the University. The event brought together members of the university community, including students, faculty, and staff.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency emphasized that UAEU, as the nation’s flagship university, remains committed to advancing its academic and research excellence. He highlighted the University’s role in supporting the UAE’s national development through a focus on innovation, sustainability, modern technologies, and human capital development. Addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, technological transformation, and food and water security, he underscored the importance of research-driven, innovative solutions. He also stressed the value of collaboration among experts across disciplines to exchange insights, perspectives, and actionable strategies aimed at improving quality of life and promoting community well-being.

His Excellency further reaffirmed UAEU’s continued investment in academic programs and strategic partnerships, particularly initiatives that integrate engineering sciences with environmental studies, humanities, public policy, and social impact. These efforts are designed to create new avenues for exploration and expand shared knowledge across disciplines. He concluded by encouraging students to approach the academic year with ambition and initiative, urging faculty to continue mentoring future generations, and inspiring staff to pursue excellence in institutional performance.

The convocation also featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Robert Roberdeau Dunn, Senior Vice Provost for University Interdisciplinary Programs at North Carolina State University, titled “Collaborative Innovation: Tackling Grand Challenges through Interdisciplinary Research.”

Following the lecture, the recipients of the Chancellor’s Award for Institutional Excellence 2024/2025 were formally recognized.
