When she joined the DBA program, Nadia Shafeeq Al Mannaee aspired to contribute to the future of the UAE in the area of training and development. She intended to develop the UAE national workforce in order to contribute to the UAE vision 2030 of “Developing a Highly Skilled, Highly Productive Workforce”.
Dr. Nadya’s experience in h uman resource management and manpower development sparked her desire to grow the knowledge of having effective competency models for UAE National employees to upgrade their skills, giving them better chances of employment and success. The UAEU DBA Program was her s ure path to study this further and enhance the knowledge for the benefit of UAE organizations .
While completing the DBA Program, Dr. Nadya developed her goal to research in th e area of competency p rograms in the oil industry in order to identify the factors that make competency models effective from the perspective of trainees . With the guidance an d supervision of the UAEU expert faculty advisors , she developed her research in this area . Over a four-year period, Dr. Nadya’s work as a DBA student helped her in honing her skills through independent research and creatio n of practical solutions to challenging business questions.
Dr. Nadya aimed to identify factors to contribute to the initiative of the National Qualification Authority (NQA), a new initiative by the UAE, which wil l issue the Qualification Framework Emirates (QF Emirates) . The QF Emirates is aligned with in ternational standa rds like the E uropean Q ualification F ramework (EQF) . The authority can benefit from this study by asking companies to focus on th e factors that will help them implement the competency model effectively. Organizations in the UAE can then have their own develope d competency models linked to the national qualification standards.
Dr. Nadya entered the DBA Program determined to ascertain her position in the corporate world and reach her unique purpose in her professional life. Motivated to “do things differently”, she utilized t he DBA Program to make that happen . Today , Dr. Nadya is the Employee Relations Team Leader at ZADCO. She has volunteered to be the DBA Ambassador at the UAEU and be a peer mentor, guiding and advising other DBA students. With mome ntum from the DBA from the UAEU , Dr. Nad ya’s dreams continue to grow, as she aspire s towards becoming a Certified Life Coach to contribute to the growth of the country through providing guidance to its driven work force.
