Training Workshop for In-Service Speech Therapists in the Eastern Region of UAE

Associate Professor Yaser S. Natour, CCC-SLP, HAAD from the Department of Special Education, College of Education conducted a series of training workshops, during the first week of April, for in-service speech therapists in the Eastern region of UAE. This effort was in collaboration with the Children National Medical Center (CNMC) and the Khalifa Bin Zayed AL Nahyan Foundation, in Fujaira.
Topic were as follows

The Utility of Expiratory Muscle Exercises (EMST) in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with neuromotor disorders that result in hypernasality, and dysphagia.

The utility of conducting Time Frequency Analysis Software (TF32) Acoustic Measures and VHI-Arab in the evaluation and treatment of Voice Disorders.

Hands-on training on the effect of two direct treatments of voice disorders; laryngeal massage and vocal function exercises (VFE).

Functional Laryngeal Videostroboscopy.

The utility of the modified barium Swallow (MBS) in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with neuromotor disorders.
