April 8, 2009 The CIT’s Academic Excellence Awards are designed to recognize exceptional faculty. The scheme is administered by a College Committee, which acts based on peers nominations and thorough performance evaluation. The successful recipients this year are Dr. Said Elnafar for best Teaching Performance, Prof. Valeriu Beiu for finest Research Output, Dr. Abderahmane Lakas for exceptional Service provided to the College and Dr. Yacine Atif for overall Distinguished Faculty academic achievements. The Awards were presented to the successful recipients during a General College Assembly under the ovation of fellow academics.

Nominees for CIT Awards are exceptional candidates who have been in continuous service for at least two years. These awards aim at encouraging teaching activities, research work and services carried out during the nominee’s tenure at CIT.  Research Awardees typically publish quality publications in forums that have recognized impact, accumulated substantial peers’ citations and secured ample funds for their research. Teaching Awardees demonstrated innovations in teaching, collated satisfactory students’ feedback contrasted with well-balanced class grades distribution in various courses. In addition, Teaching awardees are expected to promote quality teaching through disseminations of teaching innovation and best practices. Finally, Service awardees made an active level of participation and leadership in CIT events and committees, extensively contributed to the promotion of CIT and participated in Community Outreach activities of the College.
