Mon, 6 June 2022

A team from UAE University (Rashed Bark AlJaberi; Hashem Abdulrahman AlShaikh and Assil Ksiksi) under the supervision of Dr. Saad Harous and Dr. Mohamed Mehdy won the 5th position among 44 teams who participated in the Gulf Programming Contest (GPC). The competition was held on March 19th and 20th, 2014, at the American University in Dubai. This contest was previously known as the National Programming Contest (NPC). NPC was initially hosted at the University of Sharjah in 2001 and 2002, then at American University of Sharjah in 2003 and 2004, and at University of Wollongong in Dubai in 2005, then at Etisalat University College Sharjah (now Khalifa University for Science, Technology, and Research) in 2006 and 2007 and at the United Arab Emirates University in 2008 and 2009. For its 10th anniversary, the University of Sharjah hosted NPC for the third time in 2010. The first GPC contest was hosted by the University of Shajah in 2011, whereas the second and third GPC were hosted by Khalifa University in 2012 and 2013. Each institution may participate with up to three teams of up to three students each. The contest provides an excellent opportunity for students majoring in computer engineering, computer science, management information systems, information technology, or any IT related subjects to demonstrate their skills in programming and problem solving, and to meet students from other institutions. Furthermore, this contest prepares the teams for the ACM regional and World programming contests.
