Gulf Programming Contest 2016 was held on March 23rd and 24th, 2016, at the Gulf University of Science & Technology, Kuwait.
A team from UAE University ((Abdel Rahman AlHarahsheh; Abdullah AlAlwadhi; and Khaled Alnuaimi) won the 4th position among 31 teams from 11 universities from across the Gulf Region teams who participated in the 2016 Gulf Programming Contest (GPC). The team s members are mentored by Dr. Saad Harous and Dr. Mohamed Masud.
This contest was previously known as the National Programming Contest (NPC). NPC was initially hosted at the University of Sharjah in 2001 and 2002, then at American University of Sharjah in 2003 and 2004, and at University of Wollongong in Dubai in 2005, then at Etisalat University College Sharjah (now Khalifa University for Science, Technology, and Research) in 2006 and 2007 and at the United Arab Emirates University in 2008 and 2009. For its 10th anniversary, the University of Sharjah hosted NPC for the third time in 2010. The first GPC contest was hosted by the University of Shajah in 2011, whereas the second and third GPC were hosted by Khalifa University in 2012 and 2013. The fourth GCP was hosted by AUD in 2014. Each institution may participate with up to three teams of up to three students each. The contest provides an excellent opportunity for students majoring in computer engineering, computer science, management information systems, information technology, or any IT related subjects to demonstrate their skills in programming and problem solving, and to meet students from other institutions. Furthermore, this contest prepares the teams for the ACM regional and World programming contests.
