University Programming Contest 2017
Mon, 6 June 2022

The Spring University Programming Contest (UPC), was held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the College of IT between 11am-3pm. The contest provided an excellent opportunity for students to show their problem solving and programming skills. The contest also aims at preparing our students for similar national and international competitions. Twenty teams (15 female teams, 5 male teams total 60 students) participated in the contest. We accommodated the students in three labs; the contest software was PC^2, and development platforms were Netbeans (Java) and DevCPP(C/C++). The majority of participating students were from the College of Information Technology but we had students from other colleges (College of Engineering and College of Science).
Each team was made up of a maximum of three students. The contest lasted for 4 hours. It was very exciting, seeing the students competing against each other in this friendly educational contest. The contestants were given 9 problems to solve. For the first time the winning team solved 8 out of the 9 problems. The second team solved 6 problems. The third team solved 5 problems (There was another team that solved 5 problems too but in longer time). Five teams solved 4 problems, two teams solved 3 problems, two teams solved 2 problems, one team solved 1 problem and the remaining teams did not solve any problem.
