ETD2020 News Update July 2020

As outlined in the News Update of June 2020, the likely global effects of the COVID19 pandemic are becoming clearer and the ETD2020 Conference Committee, with the support of the NDLTD Board of Directors and the UAEU, has agreed upon the following change in plans for ETD2020 and ETD2021.

ETD2020 Virtual will go ahead on 17^th and 18^th November 2020.
ETD2021 UAEU will be an on-site in-person conference in November 2021 hosted and organized by the UAEU team in Al Ain, UAE.

We plan to host ETD2020 Virtual on the Ex Ordo Virtual Conference (WEBEX) platform for live and pre-recorded sessions. We are confident that we will have a stable and reliable platform to offer a viable Virtual Conference in November 2020 and are arranging a new program structure over 2 days with a keynote address each day followed by 2 or 3 invited papers on the two themes: Open Scholarship and Repositories and Technical issues.

Keynote Opening address: Theme: Open Access. Irene Kamotsky BePress (To confirm format).
Invited peer-reviewed papers: 5.30 pm (UAE time). To be confirmed

Theme: ETD repositories Technical issues. Dr. Ed Fox, Virginia Tech, Chair of NDLTD Board.
Invited peer-reviewed papers: 5.30 pm (UAE time).

Feedback of ETD2020 Virtual content, presenters, topics and format.
Discussion and polls on themes and topics; preferred format for ETD2021 UAE

New Timelines

We have adjusted the timelines for re-submission of papers for peer review and for pre-recording of presentations, noting that speakers and participants will not need to book travel and accommodation to fully participate in the ETD2020 Virtual event.

16^th Oct: 1 month for Conference presentations to be finalised and recorded with Ex Ordo.
16^th Sept: Final edits of peer-reviewed papers submitted

Free Registration for ETD2020 Virtual!

Since this conference will be wholly on-line we will accept registrations up to the date of the pre-conference workshop on 16^th November and registration will be free in 2020.
