GNSSaS Satellite
The Global Navigation Satellite System - Augmentation System (GNSSaS) program is based on using a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) technology demonstration Cubesat to provide GNSS navigation signal knowledge baseline for the UAE to ultimately aim for a constellation.
The technology demonstrator will utilize the existing Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) GNSS constellations and will transmit GNSS signals in at least two approved ITU frequencies over the UAE. The technology demonstrator will set the baseline for the GNSSaS program, which is an innovative augmentation concept that aims to provide positioning accuracy of <1m with %99 availability over the targeted area.
- Orbit: LEO (550KM)
- Size: 6 U cube-Sat (12 kg)
- Launch Date: Q4 - 2024
- Validate high precision Orbit Determination and Time Synchronization algorithms
- Transmit GNSS Signals (S-band and L5/E5) from LEO
