Project Description

This project aimed to provide a full range of consultancy services in the area of storm water drainage and groundwater control including specialized studies, injection wells, engineering modeling and analyses, GIS mapping, specifications development, field investigations and surveys, and landscape concept designs. The focus was devoted to the assessment of the effectiveness of controlling the groundwater levels through pumping of groundwater from the shallow surficial aquifer in injecting the pumped water into the deep limestone aquifer. A three-dimensional numerical groundwater model was developed for the ADM area to fully understand the dynamics of the multilayer aquifer system under pumping and injection and propose the appropriate solutions. The main objective of the groundwater flow model was to provide a tentative design for an optimum groundwater control system to maintain the groundwater table at a minimum depth of 0.5 m below the ground surface. The analysis of the available and new results including the simulation results indicated that Al Wathba area is the suitable for the implementation of the groundwater control system.
