Project Description |
The main objective of this project was to evaluate the quality and quantity of PW associated with oil and gas industry in an attempt to assess the possible contribution of PW in the water budget of Abu Dhabi Emirate. The National Water Center (NWC), at the United Arab Emirates University, reviewed all available information and data related to the PW to better understand the production volumes, quality, and management options of this water. In addition, The NWC investigated numerous feasible management options and treatment technologies to reduce the salinity as one of the major constrain of PW utilization. Moreover, the NWC examined the sources, characteristics, and extent of different pollutants within the PW. A comprehensive data analysis and assessment were accomplished to characterize the PW and give a comprehensive picture of its quality. Different combined treatment techniques that are applicable for PW were presented. The treatment options and efficiencies were classified based on the end-use goal. The aim was to provide EAD with clear guidelines on selecting appropriate treatment processes according to their inputs. |
