UAEU Global Ambassadors: International Conference Support for Undergraduate Students

Overview

At United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), we are committed to fostering a global academic presence for our undergraduate students. Attending reputable international conferences enhances students' academic profiles and broadens their global perspectives, networking opportunities, and exposure to the latest research and innovations. To support this, UAEU has allocated a budget of one million AED per year to encourage undergraduate students to attend reputable international conferences that are relevant to their study.

  • Global Networking: Conferences provide students with the opportunity to connect with professionals, researchers, and peers from around the world, fostering collaborations that can lead to future research opportunities.

  • University Reputation: By having our students actively participate in international forums, UAEU strengthens its reputation as a leading institution in research and education on the global stage.

To qualify for financial support, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment: Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students at UAEU.
  2. Academic Standing: Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
  3. Conference Selection: The conference must be a reputable, well-recognized international event in the student’s field of study.
  4. Research Presentation: The student must be presenting a paper, poster, or participating in a panel discussion at the conference.
  5. College Endorsement: A faculty member and Dean of the respective college must endorse the student's application, confirming the quality and significance of the work to be presented.
  6. Final Selection: The final selection will be made by the Associate Provost for Research and will be based the areas of national priorities, importance and relevance of the conference, presentation skills of the candidate.

 

Application Process

Application Process
At United Arab Emirates University (UAEU),

  • Submission: Students must submit an application form, along with the following documents:
    • Abstract or summary of the research to be presented.
    • Letter of Acceptance from the Conference.
    • Conference details, including the agenda, list of speakers, and organizers.
    • Endorsement letter from the college.
    • Estimated budget for participation.

  • Review: Applications will be reviewed by a committee from the Office of the Associate Provost for Research.

  • Notification: Successful applicants will be notified within 2-3 weeks of submission.

  • Post-Conference Report: Students receiving support are required to submit a brief report detailing their experience and the outcomes of their participation.

  • Coverage: The financial support may cover registration fees, travel expenses, accommodation, and daily allowances as per UAEU's guidelines.
  • Budget: A total of one million AED will be allocated annually for this initiative.
  • Priority Consideration: Priority will be given to students presenting research that aligns with UAEU’s strategic research themes, such as sustainability, water-energy nexus, health science and technology.
