Ali Humaid AlDerai

Ali Humaid AlDerai is a dedicated and accomplished Civil Engineering Professional specializing in infrastructure projects within the transportation sector. Al Derai is currently the Regional Manager, Lead of Partnerships and International Development at Abu Dhabi Fund for development. Highly motivated and ambitious, Ali possesses the expertise to manage complex projects across diverse environments, meeting stakeholder expectations and ensuring project goals are met. Holding the certification of a Certified International Project Manager (CIPM), he brings a wealth of experience in project administration, monitoring, and evaluation. Ali's passion lies in crafting innovative solutions for development challenges, valuing both skills and financial resources in achieving success.

Ali journey for participating in promoting world prosperity and saving our planet started after graduation from the UAEU For 15-year experience in international cooperation and development through the implementation of UAE aid agenda. For his role at Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and for setting in boards of many other companies, the world sustainable development agenda 2030 was always at the centre of his thinking for designing contextual solutions for development challenges in different countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America. In addition, Ali’s expertise and knowledge focused in understanding various themes related to mega projects planning appraisal and delivery.

Ali has led teams for partnerships development via coordination with International Finance Institute (IFIs)/ donors including the World Band, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and others, UAE partner countries public and private sectors, in addition to highly respected international NGO and research centres including the UN agencies and other NGOs.  In the last 15 years, Ali has attended many international conferences and workshops related to different development issues including urban development, climate change, aid effectiveness, financing SDGs and others. He participated in development of many strategies public policy agendas, plans in different context. 

Ali graduated from the UAEU in 2007 with a Bachelor in in Civil Engineering followed by master’s degree in civil engineering in 2009. He becomes Certified International Project Manager (CIPM) from the International Academy of Project Management (IAPM) in 2010. Moreover, Ali holds another masters degree in Mega Infrastructure Planning Appraisal and Delivery from Bartlett school of planning at University college of London (UCL)  in UK.
