Prof. Khaled Mohamed Saleh Al Bloushi is an explorer scientist and expert in the field
of geoscience with focus on the hydro-geophysics, geothermal exploration, and bio-geophysics
and application of geophysics in civil engineering. Faculty member in Geology Department
at UAE University. Appointed as the head of the Geology department at UAEU from 2012
to 2018, defined and deployed a new academic strategy in line with university and
country strategic plan and direction that lead to regional and international recognition.
Initiated and served as a higher committee member in the International Conference on Engineering Geophysics that was hosted for the first time in UAE, served at various governmental committees to guide and advice on numerous matters pertaining to water management, infrastructure and urban planning, mining, and geoscience risk management, which lead to adoption of law and regulations by Abu Dhabi Government.
Established and lead the Geological Society of Emirates, served as a technical committee member in highly ranked international conferences and journals, targeting to create a geoscience hub to explore and manage natural resources like ground water and mining in the region by reinterpreting and analyzing existing geo-data.
Prof. Khalid has a PhD in Geophysics from The University of Missouri Science and Technology, USA, 2010, a M.Sc. in Geophysics from The University of Tulsa, USA, 2003 and a B.Sc. in Geology from the UAE University, UAE, 1999.
He worked as a full-time assistant professor of Geophysics at the UAEU from 2010 to 2019 after that he worked as a full-time associate professor of Geophysics from 2019 till date.
Prof. Khalid is also the founder of TerraEye for Geophysical Studies, and one of the founders and board member of Energy Masters Enterprise.
Prof. Khalid is currently a member of the following organizations:
- Society of Exploration Geophysics SEG (USA);
- The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers EAGE (Netherlands);
- American Association of Petroleum Geologists AAPG (USA);
- UNESCO
Prof. Khalid developed a drone with magnetometer (GeoDrone) which save time, effort and cost in Magnetic survey, he is recently planning for stage two of GeoDrone. This innovation has won the admiration of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the scientific community.
Prof. Khalid is also a technical committee member of International Conference of Engineering Geophysics (ICEG) since it is established (2011) till now (2021). In addition to being a member of higher committee and organizing committee.
Dr. Khalid also initiated The Winter of Applied Geoscience Experience (WAGE) from 2012 to 2018. It leads the students to perform professionally in research and apply knowledge gained in the classroom. This event involved different universities from the region such Sultan Qaboos University, German University in Oman, Kuwait University, and king Fahad University.
Prof. Khalid started a Mobile Laboratory as he equipped a vehicle to be a mobile laboratory that supports geological survey operations, as this laboratory contains computers and programs that are difficult to operate on mobile devices, which allows research teams to continue in the field without returning to the laboratories. This saves effort, time and material. The mobile laboratory is characterized by logistical support for research teams and external exhibitions, as it contains a power generator, an external lighting system, and external display screens. The mobile laboratory can transmit live broadcasts of the geological survey process.
