Organisations need to accounting for and report on their financial and non-financial/sustainability performance. This helps managers monitor, understand and manage their operations in a more sustainable manner. It also promotes transparency thereby allowing stakeholders to hold organisations accountable for their sustainability performance. In doing so, accounting can support societal ambitions for sustainable growth and development.
