Dr Muhammad Z. Iqbal

Dr Muhammad Z. Iqbal is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, College of Engineering, UAE University. Dr Iqbal received his BSc in Chemical Engineering and MSc in Polymer and Process Engineering from Pakistan, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, USA. He has previously taught undergraduate students at University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan and also worked as research assistant at Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi (now Khalifa University). Currently, he is teaching and supervising PhD, Master and undergraduate students at UAE University in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.
Dr Iqbal s research spans over synthesis, characterization, and applications of two-dimensional nanomaterials (graphene and MXenes) in wastewater treatment, polymer nanocomposites, and energy storage materials. He is working as part of several collaborative teams, locally within UAE and internationally. He has published a number of research articles in reputable and well-known international journals, and presented in a number of national and international conferences including annual meetings of American Chemical Society and Society of Rheology. He serves on executive board for Water Management Program at UAEU, scientific committees, and reviewer for a number of international journals. Dr Iqbal is also part of a 75-million dirhams Virtual Research Institute (VRI) for 2D Advanced Materials as UAEU team member with Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi (final approval stage).
