Dr. Rashed Alzahmi

Dr. Rashed Alzahmi is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the College of Business and Economics at the UAE University (UAEU). He has served as the past Chair of the Leadership and Organizational Agility Department in the College of Business and Economics during 2018-2021. Dr. Alzahmi believes that teaching is the most rewarding aspect of his professional career and forms the core of his identity as a university professor. He says that nothing compares to the feeling of joy and fulfillment one experiences after a class has gone well and realizing that you might have positively influenced someone future career and decisions. He trusts that knowledge and skills are developed during a process in which a learner is inspired, motivated, engaged, take ownership of his or her education.

Prior to becoming a professor, Dr. Alzahmi worked in a major oil and gas company in the UAE where he was responsible for recruiting and preparing hundreds of talented individuals for their future careers through various educational and career preparation programs. He is SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and holds a Ph.D. in Workforce Education and Development (WFED) with a specialization in Human Resource Development and Organization Development from the Pennsylvania State University (PSU) in the U.SA. He has earned his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Workforce Education and Development from the same university and an Associate Degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania College of Technology.

In 2021, he has received the UAEU College Award for Excellence in Service. He has won the first place FAHR Award for Best Academic Research in Human Resources in 2018 and in the same year he has been selected as the Program Ambassador for the UAE Stanford Nationwide Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Education Initiative by the Ministry of Education. He has authored, co-authored several publications and presented at numerous conferences on variety of topics in the field of the HRD and OD. His current research areas revolve around strategic workforce planning, succession planning, human resource management strategy, work engagement, organizational change, and performance management.
