The United Arab Emirates University is pleased and honored to offer the very first
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) to be provided by UAEU. The two English MOOCs,
prepare students to achieve EmSAT score of 1250 and have been developed to be accessed
independently online by anyone in the world.
These courses have been designed to be pedagogically sound and provided in a format
to suit a variety of learning styles required by the prospective students.
The Comprehension and Production course (ENGU 120) focuses on the pre-intermediate
level and develops the learner’s reading, listening and study skills. Learners focus
on high frequency and academic vocabulary, in addition to being introduced to the
EmSAT exam structure.
The EmSAT preparation course (ENGU 130) expands upon basic grammatical knowledge,
develops general English vocabulary and develops critical thinking. To assist in preparation
for the EmSAT exam learners develop exam strategies through their understanding of
different reading and vocabulary question types.
This initiative is the first step for UAEU in providing MOOCs globally and helping
to inspire the next generation of students.
