COVID-19 is a novel strain virus of coronavirus originated from China
b. What are the main symptoms of COVID-19?
Symptoms can include fever, cough and shortness of breath. In more severe cases, an infection can cause Pneumonia or breathing difficulties. These symptoms are similar to influenza and the common cold,
c.How does the virus spread?
The virus spreads through direct contact, person to person with respiratory droplets of an infected person through coughing and sneezing and touching surfaces
d.Who is most at risk?
People with chronic disease, such as diabetes and heart disease, and elderly
e. What is the treatment for COVID-19?
There is no currently effective treatment neither vaccine for COVID-19 available, only non-pharmacological intervention such as:
Public health measures are everyday preventive actions that include:
- staying home when sick;
- covering mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing.
- Dispose of Used tissue immediately;
- washing hands often with soap and water; and
- cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects.
As we learn more about COVID-19 public health officials may recommend additional actions.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses. Probably initially emerged from an animal origin
g. What are the symptoms and complications?
Current symptoms reported for patients with COVID-19 have included mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough, and difficulty breathing.
This virus probably originally emerged from an animal source but now seems to be spreading from person-to-person. It is important to note that person-to-person spread can happen on a continuum. Some viruses are highly contagious (like measles), while other viruses are less so. It is not clear yet how easily COVID-19 spreads from person-to-person.
