Dr. AlDhaheri’s current research focus is in Genomic Medicine. As part of the Baylor-Hopkins Center for Mendelian Genomics, her focus is novel gene discoveries in several cohorts including: cleft lip/palate, VACTERL/VATER and vertebral malformation in an attempt to help “solve” Mendelian disorders for which the genetic etiology is presently unknown.
Dr. AlDhaheri is also interested in Metabolomics to identify unique biomarkers for diagnosis or disease monitoring in patients with metabolic disorders. By learning how to analyze metabolomics data, she hopes to use this as functional validation tool integrated with genomics data for better annotation of variants identified on exome analyses.
