United Arab Emirates University Hosts Awareness Campaign for World Autism Awareness Day with Strong Community Engagement

The Mouza bint Suhail Center for Exceptional Children at the United Arab Emirates University organized an awareness event in celebration of World Autism Awareness Day. The event brought together university staff, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Center for Continuing Education, as well as several community and external organizations. Participants included Al Ain Center for Care & Rehabilitation, Al Ain Autism Center, parents, specialists, and individuals interested in the field. The event took place at the UAEU Cultural and Social Club.

The event aimed to raise community awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD), promote concepts of acceptance, inclusion, and support, and highlight the abilities and talents of people of determination.

The program featured an art exhibition where children of determination showcased their creative artwork. Additionally, three awareness and specialized workshops were held. Guest speaker Sheikha Al Kaabi presented a session on the importance of changing stereotypes and promoting a culture of inclusion. Specialists from the Mouza bint Suhail Center—Mr. Ibrahim Sadiq and Dr. Ahmed Mostafa—conducted two specialized workshops focusing on educational and therapeutic approaches to supporting children with autism.

Prof. Ousha Ahmed Al Mehairi, Director of the Center, emphasized that the event aligns with the center’s commitment to engaging the community in supporting and empowering children with autism, and creating an inclusive and safe educational environment.

The Mouza bint Suhail Center continues its efforts in providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and support services through its sensory integration unit, occupational therapy, and psychological and behavioral support services. These efforts reflect UAEU’s ongoing role in serving the community and promoting human awareness.
