UAEU Launches a One-of-a-Kind Master’s Program in Gifted and Talented Education

In a pioneering move, the College of Education at the United Arab Emirates University has announced the launch of a Master's Program in Gifted and Talented Education—the first of its kind among higher education institutions in the UAE.

Prof. Ali Ibrahim, Acting Dean of the College of Education, stated that this innovative program aligns with the college’s strategy to enhance its graduate offerings and advance educational specialties. It reflects the growing needs of the education sector and has been developed in collaboration with The College of William & Mary in the United States, a globally recognized institution in the field of gifted education.

Prof. Ibrahim indicated that the program was carefully designed following an in-depth field study to assess the needs of the education sector—particularly in the area of supporting gifted and talented students,  and improving the competencies of education professionals. The aim is to prepare educators and specialists with advanced skills in gifted and talented education.

The Master's program will be delivered in person at the UAEU campus and is available in two study tracks: full-time (four semesters) and part-time (five semesters). Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take online courses offered by the Center for Gifted Education at William & Mary School of Education, the international partner from the USA.

Graduates of the program will be qualified to work as Gifted and Talented Education Specialists, providing academic and social support to exceptional students in schools and communities, thereby contributing to the development of high-quality, specialized education in the UAE.

Admission requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) in a Bachelor's degree, an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) obtained within the last two years, and three letters of recommendation.
