UAEU Inaugurates Its 50th Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Marking the Theme “Rooted Legacy… and a Promising Future”
The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has inaugurated its 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations, marking five decades since its establishment in 1976. Founded under the vision and leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the celebrations are held under the theme “Rooted Legacy… and a Promising Future.” The Golden Jubilee features a comprehensive institutional program comprising 45 qualitative events that showcase UAEU’s distinguished academic and national journey. The program reaffirms the University’s leading role in supporting higher education, shaping national competencies, and contributing to the UAE’s sustainable and comprehensive development. In the presence of H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University; H.E. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chair and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office; H.E. Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University; and H.E Dr. Marwan Al Kaabi, Chief Executive Officer of Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, along with members of the University community.
H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, affirmed in his speech that the Golden Jubilee represents a significant national milestone, commemorating a solid scientific journey spanning five decades. He noted that this journey has strengthened knowledge and reinforced the position of higher education as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development in the UAE. His Excellency added that since its establishment guided by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAEU has embodied a comprehensive national project dedicated to preparing national cadres and developing capabilities. Over the years, the University’s alumni have contributed to various vital sectors, supporting the UAE’s development and enhancing its future readiness.
H.E. Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, emphasized that the launch of the 50th anniversary celebrations reflects the University’s commitment to continuously advancing its higher education system, enhancing the quality of academic programs, and strengthening research and innovation. He noted that these efforts ensure alignment with national development priorities and labor market needs. He further stated that the University’s achievements in institutional performance, research growth, and the expansion of academic partnerships are the result of sustained institutional efforts based on strategic planning, continuous assessment, and adherence to the highest standards of quality and governance.
The Golden Jubilee program includes a series of flagship initiatives, including the launch of the official commemorative coin and Golden Jubilee stamp; the inauguration of the UAEU Library Development Project; the launch of the Arts and Talents Center; the introduction of the “UAEU Forums 50 Series” focusing on higher education leadership and sustainability; Asian Universities Alliance events; the “50 Years of Innovation” Patent Exhibition; the Arts and Talents Festival; and international conferences specializing in artificial intelligence, food security, and environmental sustainability. These activities will culminate in the official Golden Jubilee celebration scheduled to be held in November.
Through its Golden Jubilee celebrations, UAEU reaffirms its established position as a leading national institution in higher education and scientific research, and as a strategic partner in building human capital, strengthening the knowledge economy, and supporting the UAE’s journey toward a more competitive and sustainable future.
